Divining for Lost Sound

Bregenz Soundtrack
© 1998 by Peter Courtemanche

The score is based on a piece entitled "the great silence". This was the original soundtrack for the installation at St. Norbert. The piece evoked the history of the site - the ruins of a Trappist monastery.

The Bregenz score interweaves excerpts from the composer's radio archives. This includes material from the "Absolute Value of Noise", "Private Radio", and more recent sountrack work. Many of the works in the festival in Bregenz - including a collection of cassettes from William Seargent - focused on radio-art and audio-as-mail-art.
